This course covers the HIPAA Privacy & Security requirement for DMEPOS suppliers . You will learn what is required by the supplier to be in compliance for the HIPAA Privacy & Security requirements setforth by the Office of Civil Rights. You will be able to understand HIPAA Security and Privacy as well as what is required of you and your responibilities. This course is provided for both DMEPOS owners as well as their employees, both for their own personal and professional knowlege as well as compliance with Accreditation Standards. All employees should complete this training upon hire and then annually.
This program will cover:
- What is HIPAA?
- What you need to do to protect the privacy of a patient's personal and health information.
- What you need to do beyond providing a Notice of Privacy Practices.
- What rights patients have to approve, access/use of their medical information.
- What are Business Associates
- How you must provide for the physical and electronic security of personal health information.
- Penalties for violations
This course should be taken by all employees. Privacy/Security Officers and owners should also receive additional training.
